Alex's Bar

Alex's Bar has been Long Beach's definitive underground rock club since 2000, a 178-person 21+ institution on East Anaheim Street with the kind of lived-in, low-lit character that only comes from two decades of serious music in a room that has never tried to be anything other than exactly what it is. Small and dark with an unmistakably original punk pedigree, Alex's has hosted the Melvins, Reverend Horton Heat, Guitar Wolf, Authority Zero, Acid Mothers Temple, and hundreds more across the full spectrum of rock, punk, metal, hardcore, and underground music. The outdoor patio is a good place to land between sets, rotating food vendors appear for special events, and the bar is stocked with craft beer and rotating taps. Karaoke runs Tuesdays, trivia on Wednesdays, and live music fills the rest of the week from Thursday through Sunday with Wednesdays as an option. It is a room where the music matters more than the decor and the crowd shows up knowing that.
