Cowboy Country

Cowboy Country Saloon is the last of its kind in Southern California: a genuine 15,000-square-foot honky-tonk dancehall and saloon in Long Beach that has been keeping country music alive in Los Angeles County since 1999. The building itself has an even longer history, having housed the famous Silver Bullet during the Urban Cowboy era of the 1980s and serving as the filming location for the opening scene of Thelma and Louise. That legacy lives in the walls, and the venue honors it with rough-cut cedar paneling, autographed guitars, rodeo memorabilia, and a mechanical bull that earns its place on Friday nights upstairs. The layout is an experience in itself: three dance floors spread across two levels, two full bars, a pool room, and a stage for live bands. Free dance lessons are offered on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights, with instructors teaching two-step, line dancing, and swing in the hours before the band takes over. The mix of seasoned country dancers, curious first-timers, bikers, and everyone in between creates a crowd that is genuinely welcoming and impossible to replicate anywhere else in the region. Live music runs Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 6 PM to 2 AM, with country bands and DJs rotating across the schedule.
