Hotel Ziggy is a 108-room boutique hotel on the Sunset Strip at 8462 W. Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, opened in 2022 with a mission to revive the counterculture energy that made this stretch of Sunset Boulevard legendary. Named for Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie's glam-rock alter ego, the hotel is equal parts rock-and-roll museum, live music venue, pizza restaurant, and pool resort. The lobby walls are layered in chronological order with decades of vintage LA concert posters and flyers. Legal documents from music industry disputes are mounted alongside them, inviting the question the hotel was designed to provoke: Who really owns the music? The live music venue inside the hotel is called Backbeat, a flexible room created by opening a retractable glass garage door off the lobby. Backbeat hosts live performances and DJ sets most nights of the week, with the We Found New Music (WFNM) showcase series running on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, presenting emerging and buzzing artists through a platform that has previously introduced acts like Sigrid, Billie Eilish, Kim Petras, and Alec Benjamin to industry attention. The Shred Shed offers guests rentable guitars, amplifiers, turntables, and headphones. Free concerts happen most weekends for hotel guests poolside or in the Backbeat space. The saltwater pool, the largest in West Hollywood, hosts DJ sets and poolside live music sessions. Pizza Girl, the hotel restaurant, opens a walk-up window onto the Sunset Strip on Friday and Saturday late nights. For performing musicians in Los Angeles, Backbeat and the WFNM series represent a rare industry-adjacent opportunity in an intimate setting with genuine press exposure and a knowledgeable audience.
