Impulse Music Co. at 21515 Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita is a music gear store, academy, and performance venue that has been a cornerstone of the Santa Clarita Valley music community since its founding in 1989 as Keyboard Galleria Music Center. Revitalized in 2020 by Agus Gonzalez-Lancharro (a Barcelona-born producer behind Really Slow Motion, whose music has appeared in Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Jurassic World, and hundreds of other productions) and CJ Hockenbury, the store has become one of the most community-focused and forward-thinking music retail and education spaces in the greater LA area, voted by the NAMM Foundation as one of the Top 100 Music Stores in the World. The in-store performance venue is called The Stage Door, a dedicated space equipped with a full grand piano, acoustic drum set, guitar and bass amplifiers, PA sound system, professional stage lights, and seating for up to 60 with standing room for 80 to 100. The Stage Door hosts performance programs, clinics, seminars, open mic nights, and live recording sessions, making it one of the most capable small in-store performance spaces in the region. The store's 10-lesson-room academy offers instruction in guitar, piano, drums, bass, voice, production, performance, and theory, all managed through an integrated app platform.
