Island Brewing Company sits steps from the sand in Carpinteria, and its patio looks straight out at the Pacific, which makes it one of the most scenic brewery stages on the coast. The family-owned brewery pours award-winning ales, seasonal releases, and barrel-aged beers to a crowd of locals, beachgoers, and families, since all ages are welcome. Live music runs most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and the lineup ranges from reggae and solo acoustic acts to jazz, rock, and touring bands passing through. Shows are free, the vibe is barefoot casual, and trains rumble by now and then to remind everyone they are in a real beach town. It rewards bands with sunny, danceable sets.
