Sandbar

Sandbar has been a fixture on the 500 block of State Street since 2006, and it reopened in 2026 after a top-to-bottom renovation. By day it runs as a Mexican restaurant with Sonora-style plates and handmade margaritas. By night it becomes a late-night bar with DJs, dancing, and live music across a contemporary hacienda-style space with several patios. The venue holds roughly 270 people, about 180 of them indoors. The crowd mixes college students, locals, and visitors in weekend mode. Historically the room has hosted reggae nights and local bands, so danceable, high-energy acts and DJs who keep the floor moving are the natural fit.
