Whisky A Go Go

The Whisky A Go Go is the only live music venue to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a 500-capacity institution on the Sunset Strip at 8901 Sunset Boulevard that opened in 1964 and has never stopped being one of the most important rooms in the history of rock and roll. The Doors were the house band. Janis Joplin played here. Jimi Hendrix. Led Zeppelin. The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and Van Morrison's Them held a two-week residency with the Doors opening. Guns N' Roses were discovered here. Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Metallica, and the entire glam metal movement ran through this stage. The Runaways, X, and the Los Angeles punk scene found its voice here in the late 1970s. Today the Whisky runs shows every night of the week with a calendar that blends legacy acts and tribute bands with up-and-coming metal, punk, rock, and indie artists following a long tradition of paying dues on this stage. The room features a tiered floor and wraparound balcony with clear sightlines and punchy sound, five VIP booths on the ground floor and limited second-floor seating, and the unmistakable energy of a place that has been the center of something important for more than 60 years.
