Winters Tavern

Winters Tavern is one of the most beloved and genuinely music-obsessed dive bars in the entire Bay Area, a rustic wood-paneled Pacifica institution with a history stretching back to a building that once stood as a barn before being moved to its current spot on Francisco Boulevard, where it has been operating in one form or another since before Prohibition. The current building dates its Winters Tavern identity to May 30, 1946, and one of the few authentic neon signs still projecting over a Pacifica sidewalk marks the entrance with exactly the kind of character the place delivers inside. The motto is "It's all about the music," and that is not marketing copy. Live music runs up to seven nights a week, with afternoon matinee shows on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays alongside evening sets, open mic on Tuesdays, comedy nights every other Thursday, and an events calendar that has featured everything from bluegrass to metal, jazz to hardcore punk, surf to garage rock, folk to Latin rock tributes and beyond. The beer program lives up to the "No Crap on Tap" slogan with 16 continually rotating taps of fresh local and West Coast craft brews, plus a full bar with an extensive collection of craft spirits and cocktails. The decor is all surfboards, stickers, and lived-in character that rewards close attention. An outdoor patio with an outdoor kitchen provides food and fresh air when the weather cooperates. Past performers have included nationally touring artists like David Gans, Tom Andes, Soraia, and The Freak Accidents alongside the entire spectrum of Bay Area original music. This is a venue that still prioritizes original music and musicians trying to build something real, and that ethos makes every show worth showing up for.
